It is important that our clients feel safe, respected, and accepted by everyone within the group because it is beneficial to developing skills and friendships. Each group is structured, and routine based to help meet individual needs of each participant.

Let’s Play

Our play group focuses on developmental play and social skills through positive peer to peer interactions. Our staff focus on building social motivation, initiating, joint attention, and appropriate play skill during these sessions. Giving kids the ability to play with others lays a foundation for friendship and future skill development.

Pre-teen Social Skills Group

Our preteen group works on skills needed to make and maintain friendship through a variety of activities that have been chosen to target specific skill sets. Specific skill sets include but are not limited to holding conversations, cooperation, and teamwork, reading body language, and emotional regulation. Our staff focuses on using behavioral skills training (BST) which consists of instruction, modeling, rehearsal, and feedback to teach these skills.

Teens and young adults

Our teen group focuses on teaching complex social skills needed to navigate society. Our staff focuses on teaching complex communication skills, self- advocacy, and social problem-solving skills. Topics include but are not limited to, relationships and boundaries, coping skills, internet safety, establishing and maintain friends, leisure skills, and prerequisite skills needed for career development.

Each week the individual will meet twice for one hour. Each class has 2-6 students in a 1:1, 1:2 or 1:3 ratio depending on the individuals needs.

Before a session starts, each child is assessed and 5-10 goals are determined that focus on certain skill areas.

After goals are determined, the child will be matched with peers who are around the same level and share similar goals.

At the end of the session, you will be given a report on your child’s progress. Each child will have the opportunity to re-enroll for a future session!
